Comics and Memory is an international NNCORE conference organized at the University of Ghent from April 19-21, 2017, in collaboration with KU Leuven, UCLouvain (GRIT), and the University of Liège (ACME comics research group). The conference examines the complex relationships between comics and memory through the prisms of personal, collective, and medial practices of remembering. Keynote speeches by Mel Gibson (Northumbria University) and Claire Gorrara (Cardiff University)

Building on the day program of the conference, the evening roundtables aim to spark a broader discussion with various actors from the comics world: artists, of course, but also different kinds of archivist, professors, cultural mediators, and others. The roundtables aim to speak to a wider audience by giving the floor to cartoonists, authors, and actors with a practical experience in the comics world.
